Carlos Vergara “Schemata of Recollection”

As a cartography of the mind Schemata of Recollection examines the potential of photographs as mnemonic devices. Like walking into a forgotten archive where only imprints of documents are left, traces of information are revealed in the form of fragmented images, resembling archeological relics. Grids, structures and images reflect on the reciprocal relationship between memory and identity. They examine the complex interplay between individual and collective recollections, and the cognitive schemata we use to construct, preserve and consolidate thoughts.
